Couples often feel that they have no one to turn to, or that no one understands what they are going through. But miscarriage is not as uncommon as you might think.

How common is miscarriage?

According to an article in the Huffington Post, there are more than a million miscarriages in the US each year, accounting for 15 to 20 percent of known pregnancies.

And although over 60 percent of miscarriages are a result of chromosomal abnormalities, women often feel feeling of guilt or shame, making the recovery period more difficult.

Lets talk about miscarriage

Many women and couples struggle to cope with difficult feelings and experiences after a miscarriage. The lack of conversation surrounding miscarriage in our society is a let down to women and couples who need support.

Attending a support group or getting help from a counselor has been shown to greatly help those recovering from a miscarriage.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends and relatives. You may be surprised how many of them have underwent similar experiences.
